The Daisy Appeal

Guest & Philips are proud to support the Daisy Appeal.

The Daisy Appeal is funded by local people and it saves local lives.
Cancer, heart disease and dementia are among the UK’s three biggest killers. Recent statistics suggest half of us will develop cancer during our lifetimes and one in three people will suffer from dementia.

One in six deaths in Hull is due to Coronary Heart Disease.

The Daisy Appeal was established on one fundamental truth – the key to beating these conditions lies in early diagnosis. Quite simply, the sooner they are diagnosed the better the chances of recovery. The Daisy Appeal have already raised £8m to build a Medical Research Centre at Castle Hill Hospital, near Hull, and are now raising a further £6.8m for a permanent scanning centre on the same site.

The area needs a permanent scanner because they are currently served by a mobile scanner that visits Hull just twice a week. Once the scanning centre has opened, however, thousand will benefit from having quick access to life-saving diagnostics.
The Daisy Appeal is proud to be a local charity, funded by local people and dedicated to saving lives across Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Together, we can help make these conditions a thing of the past.

Well Done, Angie!

A charity runner has won a Thomas Sabo Silver Heart Charm Bracelet in a prize-draw run by the Daisy Appeal.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Daisy Appeal teamed up with Guest and Philips to offer a Thomas Sabo Silver Heart Charm Bracelet worth nearly £100 to one lucky winner.

Angie Maltas, from Roos, has run the York Marathon, Leeds Half Marathon, and the Hull 10k in the past 12 months to raise money for charity.  Angie, 43, and her daughter, Georgia, collected the bracelet from Karen Guest, from the Beverley branch of Guest and Philips.

Angie said: "This is fantastic. I never win anything. The bracelet is so beautiful and the Daisy Appeal is such a great local cause."

Karen Guest said: “We’re so happy the bracelet has gone to a good home. The Daisy Appeal is such a worthwhile local charity and we are only too happy to support it.”

The Daisy Appeal has raised £8m to build a Medical Research Centre at Castle Hill Hospital, near Hull, and has been raising a further £6.8m for a permanent scanning centre on the same site.

Currently the charity is £2m away from meeting its target.

East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire is currently served by a mobile scanner that visits Hull just twice a week. Once the permanent scanning centre has opened, however, thousand will benefit from having quick access to life-saving diagnostics.
